Visual Basic Development

We began working with Visual Basic version 1.0, but when Access arrived on the scene we shifted our development focus to the creation of Access-based applications. In our experience, a data driven application can be completed in Access for approximately one third the effort required using Visual Basic. We still use Visual Basic today, however we usually use it only to create tools or utilities that complement an Access application.  Visual Basic applications can be much smaller than a comparable Access application, do not require Access or the Access runtime, and have a greater ability to interact with the Windows environment.  Thus Visual Basic remains an important tool in implementing some business solutions.
